FAQ
The questions we get most often. If your question isn't here, drop us a line at hey@release.wtf — we always reply.
What exactly is release.wtf?
It's a tool that lets you create a web page for your launch (streetwear drop, album release, podcast premiere, any product with a specific date). Your fans click the page, add the event to their calendar in 1 tap, and their phone reminds them automatically on drop day. No app to install, no email to open.
How much does it cost?
29€ for 1 year of use (~2.40€/month) or 59€ Lifetime (one-time, no renewal ever). You can create a free account and preview events before paying. Payment only unlocks public publishing.
Is there a limit on fans or events?
No. Flat pricing. You can create unlimited events and each event can accumulate thousands of fans at no extra cost. No volume fees.
Do my fans need to install an app?
No. Everything runs through their phone's native calendar (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook…). They click your link, add the event, done. No release.wtf app, no push notification permission, no fan-side account.
What if my fans use Notion / Yahoo / Proton / a less-known calendar?
Works the same way. The .ics file is universal: any modern CalDAV or iCalendar client reads it (Notion Calendar, Yahoo, Proton Calendar, Fastmail, Thunderbird, Samsung Calendar, MIUI Calendar, etc.). A dedicated "Other calendar" link sits below the 3 main buttons for these users.
How is this different from a reminder email?
A calendar notification has near-100% open rate. Emails average 20-30%. The calendar notification fires locally on the fan's phone at the exact drop time — no server involved, no spam filter, no Gmail algorithm. Mechanically more reliable.
Can I integrate this on Shopify?
Yes. We provide an HTML widget you paste on any page of your site (homepage, password page, product page). The widget shows the countdown and calendar buttons directly embedded. Compatible with Shopify, BigCommerce, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, or raw HTML.
How do I know how many people really added the event?
Everything is tracked in real time: drop page views, calendar adds, traffic sources (Instagram, TikTok, direct…), real launch-day clicks on the calendar link. All visible on your stats page in the admin. GDPR compliant: no cookies, hashed IP.
Is it compatible with my email / SMS / push campaigns?
Yes, and complementary. The idea is to stack: send your announcement email + an SMS the day before + your fans ALSO get the calendar notification on launch day. More chances the info lands and the person shows up. release.wtf doesn't replace your existing tools, it strengthens them.
Do you store my fans' data?
As little as possible. When a fan clicks "Add to calendar", we log an anonymous click (hashed IP, simplified user-agent, traffic source) for analytics. No personal fan data (email, phone, name) is stored. Analytics data is purged after 90 days. GDPR compliant by design.
Can I customize my page's design?
You pick the cover image, an accent color matching your brand, the title, the description. The layout stays standard to guarantee conversion (buttons placed at tested positions). For Pro brands, advanced CSS customization is planned for a future version.
How long does it take to create an event?
About 30 seconds for the first time (account + first event), 15 seconds for subsequent events. Paste the title, date, time, upload a cover image, published.
Is there a free trial?
You can create a free account and create events in preview mode — you see exactly what the public page looks like, you can test it, add the drop to your own calendar to verify everything works. Payment only unlocks publishing accessible to external fans.
What kind of brands are on the platform?
Mostly streetwear brands, sneaker brands, fashion drops, music creators (album/single releases) and podcasters. Any brand with a launch on a specific date is a fit. For brands with regular restocking (no specific date), we're a less good fit.
